There are many different types of race cars. Everything from Top sportsman, pro stock, super gas, dragsters, door cars, and the list goes on. Bracket racing is what most of these cars participate in. You have to run a 2-5 time trials to get a good idea of what your race car will be running. You then dial in a time that you will try not to exceed. If you go faster than the time you dialed in it's called breaking out and you lose unless of course the person you are racing breaks out worse than you. Bracket racing is fun but takes a lot of skill since you are racing against the clock. In other words if you dial in a 9.02 and run a 9.021 that is great if your reaction time is in the 0.20 range. Reaction time is how fast you react to the tree turning green. Most professionals have reaction times in the 0.10-0.40 range on average. Anything consistently higher than a 1.00 reaction time will have you packing up and going home. Remember, bracket racing is racing your car against the clock, not so much the other driver.
